How to use it
- Paste or type your text, up to 100,000 characters. Paste the visible copy, not the HTML source.
- Optionally enter the keyword or phrase you're targeting to see its count, density and where it first appears.
- Choose whether to hide English stop words, Hindi stop words and numbers from the lists.
- Switch between single words, 2-word and 3-word phrases, and sort by count, density or term.
- Download the lists as a CSV file or copy a short summary.
How the counts are calculated
- Words are found with your browser's Unicode word segmentation (Intl.Segmenter), which handles Devanagari and other scripts as well as English. Older browsers use a Unicode pattern instead. Hyphenated words (e-commerce), contractions (don't) and numbers such as 1,000 count as one word, and matching ignores case.
- Density = occurrences × words in the term ÷ total words × 100. A 2-word phrase that appears 5 times in 500 words has a density of 5 × 2 ÷ 500 × 100 = 2%.
- The total word count always includes stop words: the filters only hide terms from the lists. Phrases that start or end with a hidden word are hidden too (“of the”, “the best”), but phrases with one in the middle stay (“cost of living”).
- Phrases never run across a sentence or clause boundary (. , ! ? ; : । brackets, dashes or line breaks). 2- and 3-word phrases are listed only when they appear at least twice.
- Reading time is an estimate at 200 words per minute. Average word length counts user-perceived characters, so a Devanagari conjunct isn't counted as several letters.
- Only the first 100,000 characters are analysed.
