SEO Audit Checker
Check one public page for the basics search engines and visitors rely on: whether it can be indexed, its title and meta description, headings, canonical link, mobile viewport, language, image alt text, sharing tags, structured data and HTTPS. Every result is something measured on the page, with a plain explanation and a suggested fix. There's no made-up overall score.
How to use it
- Paste the full address of the page you want to check. If you leave out https://, it's added for you.
- Press Run audit. The page, its robots.txt and its sitemap are fetched, which usually takes a few seconds.
- Start with anything marked Issue, then work through the Warnings. Notes are context, not problems.
- Use Page facts to review the title, description, canonical, heading outline and other details in one place.
- Download the CSV or copy the summary to share with your developer, then run the audit again after changes.
What is checked and how
- The page is fetched from BrandNXT's server with a “BrandNXT-Tools” user agent, following up to 10 redirects. Only the first 2 MB of HTML is read, and the raw HTML is analysed as served: JavaScript isn't run.
- Indexing: the page must return a 2xx status; a noindex in the robots meta tag or X-Robots-Tag header is an Issue; robots.txt on the final domain is read (blocking the whole site for all crawlers is an Issue, having no robots.txt is a Note); a sitemap must be declared in robots.txt or found at /sitemap.xml (a Warning if neither); a missing canonical link is a Warning, and a canonical pointing to a different URL is a Note.
- Content: no title is an Issue, and a title under 30 or over 60 characters, or more than one title tag, is a Warning. No meta description, or one under 70 or over 160 characters, or more than one, is a Warning. No H1 is a Warning and several H1s is a Note. Heading levels that skip (for example H2 straight to H4) are a Note. Visible word count is shown for reference.
- Mobile & accessibility: no viewport meta tag is an Issue, no lang attribute on <html> is a Warning, and images without an alt attribute are a Warning (alt="" counts as set, which is right for decorative images).
- Social sharing: missing og:title, og:description or og:image is a Warning. Technical: JSON-LD that can't be parsed is a Warning; plain HTTP is an Issue; more than one redirect is a Warning; HTML that takes over 3 seconds to download is a Warning; favicon and link counts are Notes.
- Characters are counted as Unicode characters. Google actually shortens titles by pixel width (roughly 600px on desktop), so the character range is a guide rather than a hard limit.
- Only public http(s) sites on the standard ports (80 and 443) can be checked; private, local and internal addresses are refused. Nothing about the page or the URL is stored.
