Image Format Converter

Convert images between JPG, PNG and WebP in your browser, up to 20 at a time. GIF, BMP and AVIF files can be converted too when your browser can open them. Dimensions stay the same, you see each file's size before and after, and nothing is uploaded.

How to use it

  1. Drop up to 20 images (JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP or AVIF, 25 MB each), or choose them from your device.
  2. Pick the output format: JPG, PNG or WebP.
  3. For JPG and WebP, set the quality. For JPG, choose the colour that fills any transparent areas.
  4. Check each file's new size. Conversion can make a file bigger as well as smaller, and the tool shows which.
  5. Download images one at a time, or all of them as a ZIP.

How the conversion works

  • Each file's type is checked from its content (its first bytes), not its name, so a renamed file is still recognised correctly.
  • Your browser decodes the image and draws it at its original pixel size onto a canvas, then saves the canvas in the format you chose. Photos taken sideways are turned the right way up using their EXIF orientation.
  • JPG can't store transparency, so transparent pixels are filled with your background colour (white by default). PNG and WebP keep transparency.
  • Quality (10–100) applies to JPG and WebP only. PNG is always lossless.
  • If your browser can't save WebP, it produces PNG instead, and the tool tells you so rather than giving the file a misleading name.
  • Animated GIF, WebP and AVIF files are converted from their first frame only, and the tool flags them.
  • Re-encoding removes metadata such as EXIF camera details, GPS location and embedded colour profiles. Colours are saved in standard sRGB.
